Aaron Willingham's first place finish, the University of Maine men's cross country team defeated rival New Hampshire 23-34 on Friday afternoon. Jake Terry placed second with a time of 26:06, while
Josh Horne (3
rd place 26:16) and Dan Lesko (5
th place, 26.37) finished in the top-five to lead the Black Bears.
Willingham finished the five-mile course with a time of 25:54 for his first dual-meet victory of his collegiate career.
Nick Ochoa-Sevilla finished in fourth-place for UNH, as the Wildcats would take 6
th place through 11
th to keep the score close.
Simon Powhida took 12
th place with a time of 27:21. In his home race of his career, senior
Logan Moses finished the course with a time of 27.44 for 15
th place.
Freshman
John Hassett crossed the finish line with a time of 27:50, while Zach LePage wrapped up the meet for the Black Bears with a time of 28:37.
The Black Bears head south to Boston next Friday to compete at the Battle in Beantown, hosted by Boston College. The meet is set to start following the women's meet, which starts at 3:00 p.m.
