 FARMVILLE, Virginia – Maine men's basketball surged in the second half to cruise to an 80-58 victory over Longwood Sunday afternoon.
 
The Black Bears scored 47 points in the second half on 43.6 percent shooting from the field and connecting on seven three pointers.
 
Ilker Er led Maine with 16 points in the game shooting 6-for-12 from the field and 4-for-9 from three. Wes Myers had 15 points and logged his second straight game with eight rebounds (four offensive and four defensive).

Longwood's Darrion Allen had a game high 18 points, Isaiah Walton and Khris Lane added 16 and 14 points respectively.
 
Maine had five double digit scorers, produced 38 points in the paint and manufactured 31 bench points.
 
The first half featured 11 lead changes as the largest lead was by Maine (four points) after a layup by Danny Evans with :36 remaining in the first half as they took a 33-29 lead into half-time.
 
The Black Bears exploded with a 10-0 run in the second half as Ilker Er knocked down back-to-back threes as Maine took a 39-29 lead.
 
Maine maintained a ten-point margin throughout the second half, Aaron Calixte put the Black Bears ahead by 12, 56-44 with 10:07 remaining.
 
 Wes Myers scored back-to-back buckets for the Black Bears that helped them go on a 9-0 run as Maine led by 19, 65-46.
 
With under four minutes remaining in the game, Khris Lane knocked down a Longwood three to trim the Black Bears' lead, 72-48.
 
Marko Pirovic scored six points in a one minute span, as Maine led 77-58. The Black Bears held on, in the final 1:16 to secure the victory, 80-58.
 
Maine returns to action at the Steve Wright Classic at Boston University as they take on the Terries November 19 at 4:00 p.m.
