Maine Soccer Shuts Out Marist

Orono, Maine-- The University of Maine Women's Soccer Team earned their fourth win of the season with a 5-0 win against Marist. Coming off two previous losses in a row, Maine looks to be back on track.
Claudia Dube-Trempe now has four shutouts on the season and made 11 total saves during the game.
The Black Bears first goal would come from Alex Abrahams, who earned her first goal after a turnover at midfield and a 35 yard kick that went over the goalkeeper. At the half, Maine led Marist 1-0.
Maine took control offensively in the second half, scoring four goals. A minute in, Anetra Byfield scored her second goal of the season off an assist from Vivien Beil. She was able to chip the ball over the goalkeeper from just inside the box.
Beil earned her second assist of the game when Kate Evans scored the third goal for Maine off a long shot of about 35 yards that sailed into the top corner of the goal. Kaitlin Saulter scored the next goal for Maine unassisted, and Anetra Byfield scored her second goal of the night with an assist from teammate Abby Maker.
With a strong win against Marist, Maine looks to continue its momentum when it plays Quinnipiac on Sunday, September 13 at 1 pm. They will return home on Saturday, September 19 to host LIU Brooklyn at 12pm.
The Black Bears are now 4-2 on the season, while Marist falls to 1-5.
