
The University Maine's Women Ice Hockey Team Battle's to 3-3 Tie with UConn

STORRS, Connecticut--- The University of Maine Women's Ice Hockey team opened its two game road trip with a 3-3 tie against the University of Connecticut at Freitas Ice Forum Friday night. Maine goes to 3-5-2, while UConn goes to 2-4-4.
Brooke Stacey (Kahnawake, Quebec) scored the first goal of her colligate career at 00:46 in the first period. Morgan Sakundiak (Calgary, Alberta) helped with an assist. The goal was reviewed but upheld.
Theresa Knutson of the Huskies tied the score with a goal at 3:13 in the first period. Allie Hughes and Sarah MacDonell were each credited with an assist on the goal.
Maine was not finished with the first period. Kelsey MacSorley (Stratford, Ontario) scored her third goal of the season at 11:18. The goal put the Black Bears up 2-1. Brittney Huneke (Hastings, Minnesota) and Victoria Hummel (Tulln, Austria) had assists. It was Hummel's first assist on the season.
Kayla Campero started the scoring for UConn at 5:31 in the second period. Caitlin Hewes had the only assist on the play.
Hailey Browne (Oakville, Ontario) gave Maine the 3-2 lead at 8:46. Abbey Cook (Fairport, New York) assisted on the play. The assist was Cook's first on the season.
Leah Lum of New Hampshire tied the score at 3-3 at 19:00. Kelly Harris and Caitlin Hewes each assisted Lum.
Meghann Treacy (Lake Peakskill, New York) and Elain Chuli kept the game scoreless through the third and over time period. Treacy finished with 25 saves, and Chuli finished with 31. Maine did not go on the power play, but UConn was 0-2.
Maine returns to action Saturday, November 1st at North Eastern. Puck drop is scheduled for 3:00 pm.
