No. 13 Albany Snaps No. 20 Maine Field Hockey's Winning Streak at Eight

ALBANY, N.Y. - The No. 20 University of Maine field hockey team had its eight-game winning streak snapped by No. 13 Albany, 3-0 on Saturday afternoon in Albany, N.Y. Paula Heuser tallied two goals as Maine dropped to 10-7 and 3-1 in conference. Albany improved to 14-2 and 4-0 in America East play.
Heuser got the Great Danes on the board in the fifth minute as she tallied her 20th of the season off a penalty corner, as Laura Page and Fiori Van Rijswijk tallied assists.
Heuser notched her 21st of the season just minutes later as she scored on a penalty corner give and go as Amy Nicklin and Page registered assists on the goal that made it 2-0.
Albany capped the scoring at the 23:31 mark as Page scored her first of the season as she took it down the middle field and beat Emily Corbett for the third goal of the game.
Albany smothered the Black Bear offense, which averaged 2.8 goals per game coming into the contest, as the Great Danes held Maine to just four shots through 45 minutes while tallying 14 of their own.
Maine held a slight advantage in penalty corners in a game where few were awarded, 3-2.
Corbett got the start in the cage for Maine as she fell to 5-5 on the year. Corbett made two saves on five shots and allowed three goals. Emma Cochran started the second half and made two saves on two shots on goal.
The top-ranked goalkeeper in the country, Maxi Primus improved to 14-2 overall as she made four saves on four shots to record the shutout.
Maine looks to salvage the weekend as they take on Cornell in a neutral site game in Albany, N.Y. on Oct. 26. That game is slated for 2 p.m.
