Kyle Beattie Nets Two Goals, but Maine Falls at New Hampshire 5-4

DURHAM, N.H.-- Kyle Beattie (Avondale, Ariz.) scored a pair of goals on Saturday night at New Hampshire, but it was not enough as the Wildcats scored with 15.3 seconds remaining to beark a 4-4 tie and earn the 5-4 victory. Maine falls to 11-9-6 on the season and 8-7-4 in Hockey East play. New Hamsphire improves to 17-5-4 overall and 15-2-2 in conference play.
UNH got on the scoreboard at 5:26 of the first period. Austin Block won a face-off back to Dalton Speelman. Speelman got the puck to John Henrion, who fired it past Maine goalie Shawn Sirman (Blezard Valley, Ontario) and into the top right corner of the goal. For Henrion, it was his 11th goal of the season.
Maine tied the game at 1-1 at 13:07 of the first period. Tanner House (Cochrane., Alberta) had a shot that UNH goalie Matt Di Girolamo stopped, but the rebound went right to Gustav Nyquist on the back post. He shot it past Di Girolamo to tie the game at 1-1. Brian Flynn (Lynnfield, Mass.) also assisted on the goal for the Black Bears.
Maine took its first lead of the weekend at 16:31 of the first period. House found Kyle Beattie alone on the post stick side and he beat Di Girolamo for his fourth goal of the season. Spencer Abbott (Hamilton, Ontario) also picked up an assist on the goal for the Black Bears.
UNH tied the game at 2-2 at 19:20 of the first period when Henrion scored his second goal of the game on a shot from the right face-off circle. Mike Beck assisted on the goal for the WIldcats. The Wildcats regained the lead at 10:34 of the second period when Kevin Goumas scored on a scramble in front of the goal. Stevie Moses and Mike Beck both registered assists on the goal.
Maine tied the game at 8:13 of the third period. Robby Dee (Plymouth, Minn.) won a face-off back to Spencer Abbott. Abbott had a shot and the rebound deflected to Beattie in the slot. Beattie one-timed the puck past DiGirolamo to knot the score at 3-3.
UNH grabbed the lead back at 9:44. Stevie Moses had a shot that Sirman saved, but the rebound went right to Mike Borisenok who fired the puck into the back of the goal.
Will O'Neill (Salem, Mass.) tied the game at 4-4 at 13:24 of the third period. On an odd-man rush, O'Neill got the puck from Dimmen and blasted it by Di Girolamo in transition. Flynn also assisted on the goal for the Black Bears.
Paul Thompson netted the game-winner for the Wildcats with just 15.3 seconds remaining.
Maine finished the game with a 32-27 lead in shot on goal. The Black Bears were 0-for-2 on the power play, while New Hampshire finished the game 0-for-2.
Shawn Sirman made 22 saves in goal for the Black Bears. He falls to 3-2-3 on the season. Di Girolamo made 28 saves in goal for the Wildcats. He improves to 17-5-4.
