
#7 Maine and #3 Boston University Battle to 2-2 Draw

BOSTON, Mass. -- The #7 University of Maine men's ice hockey team scored two third period goals and overcame a 1-0 deficit after two periods to skate to a 2-2 tie with #3 Boston University of Saturday night at Agganis Arena. Maine moves to 4-1-3 on the season and 2-0-1 in Hockey East play. Boston University moves to 6-0-2, 4-0-2 in conference play.
Both teams had several opportunities in the first period. Maine finished the frame with an 8-4 advantage in shots on goal.
Boston University took a 1-0 lead at 15:51 of the second period with a power play goal by Chris Connolly. It was the fourth goal of the season for Connolly, which was assisted by Alex Chiasson and Adam Clendening each assisted on the goal. Maine held a 23-14 edge in shots after two periods of play.
Maine tied the game at 1-1 early in the third period. Gustav Nyquist (Malmo, Sweden) had his shot from the left faceoff circle beat Terrier goalie Kieran Millan. Dimmen and Robby Dee (Plymouth, Minn.) each assisted on the goal. For Nyquist, it was his third goal of the season. He extended his points streak to nine games with the goal.
It did not take Maine long to take the lead after tying the game. Dimmen had a shot that was blocked in front of the crease. A Boston University defender tried to clear the puck and it went right back to Dimmen. He then fired a shot past Millan, giving Maine a 2-1 lead. For Dimmen, it was his first goal of the season.
BU pulled goalie Millan in favor of an extra attacker and Charlie Coyle tied the game at 2-2 with 1:21 remaining.
Maine goalie Dan Sullivan (York, Pa.) had another outstanding game for the Black Bears. He made 28 saves and moves to 2-1-1 on the season. Millan stopped 34 shots for BU. He moves to 4-0-2.
