Kirsti Hussey was announced as the assistant coach of the Maine women's ice hockey program in September of 2022.

Hussey most recently served as the head girls’ hockey coach for Northfield Mount Hermon School. She was responsible for player instruction and development as well as recruiting and
maintaining a roster during two challenging Covid-19 impacted seasons.
 
Prior to her time at Northfield Mount Hermon School, Hussey served as an assistant coach of the Brown University women’s ice hockey team, from 2015-2018. Hussey was responsible for practice planning and implementation, NCAA compliance, and managed the program’s recruiting.
 
Before her time at Brown University, Hussey served for three seasons as the head coach of the girls’ ice hockey team for St. Mark’s School as well as serving as Assistant Athletic Director.
 
Previous to arriving at St. Mark’s, Hussey held previous assistant coaching positions at the University of Connecticut and Hamilton College.
 
In addition to her years of college coaching experience, Hussey worked for USA Hockey Girls’ Player Development Camps from 2009-2019. Her various roles at the camps have included  head coach, assistant on-ice director, and on-ice skills coach and evaluator.
 
Before moving on to coaching, Hussey played for the Oakville Ice and the Ottawa Raiders of the National Women’s Hockey League in Canada from 2005-07.
 
As a collegiate player, Hussey began her career at Bowdoin College (2001-03) where she guided the Polar Bears to two NCAA Frozen Fours while earning First Team All-American, NESCAC First Team and Rookie of the Year honors. She was also tied for first in Division III for defenseman scoring. Hussey finished up her collegiate career at Dartmouth College (2003-05) where she again led her team to back-to-back NCAA Frozen Four appearances as well as an Ivy League Championship in 2004.
 
Hussey has participated in the USA 18's and 19's Junior National Camp and was twice a part of the USA Women's National Team Festival in 2002-03.
