IN 2009-10: Will serve as a captain for theBlack Bears.

IN 2008-09: Placed second in the 100 and 200back against Stony Brook (11/8)...Was a member of the winning 200free relay team as well as picking up the win in the 200 back eventagainst Keene State and Vermont (11/17)...Placed eighth in the 200IM at the URI Harold Anderson Invitational.

IN 2007-08: At the America East Championships,was fifth in the 200 medley relay, 12th in the 100 back, 15th inthe 200 back and 16th in the 500 free... Second in the 200 IM andthe 200 free relay at Stony Brook (11/10)... Second in the 200 IM,the 400 free and 200 free relay at Fairfield (11/11)... Won the 400free relay and second in the 200 free at Bowdoin (11/19)... Won the400 free relay at BU (12/8)... Second in the 200 free relay againstBC (1/25)... Second in the 100 back and the 200 back againstDartmouth (2/2).

IN 2006-07: At the America East Championshipswas eleventh in the 1650 free at 17:38.27 and was 13th in the 200back in 2:03.10 ... Second in the 500 free against Stony Brook(11/12) ... Second in the 500 free at Rhode Island (10/29) ...Named to the America East Commissioners Honor Roll and named aMaine Scholar-Athlete "Rising Star."

BEFORE MAINE: Captain as a senior at CouncilRock High School North for coach Brian Johnson ... Named MostImproved Swimmer in 2003 and 2004 ... Earned MVP honors in 2006.

PERSONAL: Majoring in philosophy ... Born March30, 1988 ... Son of Ruth Derby and Andrew Young ... Sister Katicompeted in crew at Clemson while sister Pria plays soccer andbasketball at Hobart and William Smith Colleges.
