Mikal Myers

Mikal Myers began his first year on staff at the University of Maine in March of 2019. Myers, who served as an assistant coach with the outside linebackers in his first season, transitioned to working with the defensive tackles in the spring of 2021. Myers is currently in his third year with the Black Bears.

In his first season at UMaine, Myers continued the tradition of excellence at the linebacker position in Maine's 'Black Hole' defense. Myers stepped in and worked specifically with Maine's outside linebackers, helping to mentor and grow the younger outside backer unit into everyday players. By the end of 2019, Maine received significant contributions by the outside unit while Myers also played a significant role in transitioning Ori Jean Charles from tight end to backer.

Myers, who entertained an exceptional playing career at the University of Connecticut from 2013-2016, spent the 2018 season as a graduate assistant coach at American International College (AIC) where he focused on developing the linebacker unit. While at AIC, Myers assisted the head coach in developing the defensive game strategy and worked to design effective and efficient training for both the team and individual student-athletes. Myers also played a large part in the AIC recruiting efforts where he was tasked with surveying areas in New York and Connecticut.

As a student-athlete at UConn, Myers appeared in 45 games with the Huskies. As a defensive tackle, he started all 12 games during his senior season while registering 51 tackles, including 2.5 for loss, and two forced fumbles. In 2015, Myers was a regular on the defensive unit as he recorded 26 tackles and was fifth on the team in tackles for loss. Myers tallied four stops against Marshall in the St. Petersburg Bowl during his junior campaign.

Myers earned his Bachelor of Arts in Communications from UConn in 2016.
