Matthew Mulligan

Matthew Mulligan joined the Black Bear coaching staff in June of 2021 as an assistant sports performance coach and coaching assistant.

Mulligan started 18 games during his two year stint as a tight end with the Black Bears during the 2007-08 and 2008-09 seasons. Following his time in Orono, Mulligan signed as an undrafted free agent with the Miami Dolphins in 2008 and would go on to be a member of 10 NFL franchises over his nine-year career, serving stints with the Tennessee Titans, New York Jets, St. Louis Rams, Green Bay Packers, New England Patriots, Chicago Bears, Arizona Cardinals, Buffalo Bills, and Detroit Lions.
 
Mulligan, who spent his time in the NFL as a tight end blocking specialist, caught 18 passes for 170 yards and two touchdowns throughout his professional career. Mulligan saw action in 89 games in the NFL while appearing in seven playoff contests with the Jets, Patriots, and Lions. Following his NFL career, Mulligan transitioned to a strength and conditioning role with the Washington Football Team.
