Dean Petzing

Dean Petzing, currently in his second year on staff with the Black Bears, was hired in March of 2018 to serve the role of assistant coach - tight ends.

Under his guidance during the historic, championship 2018 season, Maine's tight ends unit proved to be a vital part of the offensive game plan, led by captain and All-CAA selection Drew Belcher who hauled in 46 receptions for 357-yards and a touchdown before being signed to an undrafted free agent deal with the Cincinnati Bengals.

Prior to joining the Black Bears, Petzing spent two seasons on staff at Ball State. In 2017, Petzing served as an offensive graduate assistant and assistant offensive line coach where he helped guide the defensive line and linebackers during all scout team periods. In his first year at Ball State, Petzing was the assistant wide receivers coach.

In the fall of 2015, Petzing spent a year as the tight ends coach and offensive assistant at Villanova where he mentored and guided the tight end unit through all individual drills and was responsible for full scout team activities during all offensive team periods.

Petzing started his career with a year on the defensive staff at Yale (2014) after two seasons as a student-assistant with St. Lawrence.

Petzing graduated from St. Lawrence in 2014 with a Bachelor of Science double major in mathematics and economics while earning a minor in statistics.
