Bryan Anthony Murray

Bryan Anthony Murray (Coach BAM) was hired as defensive line coach with the Black Bears on Feb. 1, 2022.


Coach BAM joined the Black Bears after spending three seasons as the defensive line coach at Slippery Rock University. While at Slippery Rock, he played a key role in the development of four all-conference linemen, three all-region honorees, and two All-Americans; one of which went on to lead the PSAC in total sacks. In 2019, he served on a staff which guided Slippery Rock to a 13-1 mark, a spot in the national semifinals, and a No. 6 final ranking in the AFCA poll. In addition to his assistant coach role at Slippery Rock, he also served an administrative role as Coordinator for Academic Progress where he worked primarily with readmitted students as an Academic Success and Career Coach.  


Prior to his time at Slippery Rock, he served two seasons as a defensive graduate assistant under head coach Luke Fickell at the University of Cincinnati. 

 

Coach BAM began his coaching career as the assistant varsity football coach for three seasons at Newton North High School in Newton, Mass. 

 

A 2011 graduate of Boston College, he was a three-year letterwinner and one year starter for the Eagles. In his senior year, he was elected team captain by his peers. Coach BAM earned a Bachelor of Arts in Human Development and a Bachelor of Arts in Economics with a minor in Sociology from Boston College. In 2013, he obtained his Masters of Arts in Applied Development and Educational Psychology from Boston College.
