Compliance for Current Student-Athletes
Current Student-Athletes:
As a University of Maine student- athlete, you need to be mindful of many NCAA, CAA, America East, Hockey East, and University of Maine rules and regulations that could affect you. The purpose of this website is to help you understand theses rules and also describe certain procedures you must follow (I.e. SAF, Transfer Procedures). In addition to this website, please also reference your Student-Athlete Handbook (available by clicking here) for additional information.
All student-athletes must meet the following requirements in order to be eligible for practice and competition.

Compliance
-Â Â Â Â Â Â Eligibility meeting- PowerPoint presentation at pre-season compliance meeting on NCAA, conference, and institutional rules, regulations, and policies. All paperwork must be complete and accurate!
-Â Â Â Â Â Â NCAA Initial Eligibility Center certification (Freshman only)
-Â Â Â Â Â Â NCAA International Form completed and verified (International students only).
     Sports Medicine
-Â Â Â Â Â Â Physical from a University of Maine physician or appointed consultant
-Â Â Â Â Â Â Insurance paperwork
-Â Â Â Â Â Â Pre-entrance Physical
-Â Â Â Â Â Â Health Questionnaire
Academic Credit Hour Requirements (NCAA)
-Â Â Â Â Â Â Registered full time (12 credit hours unless you are a senior in your last semester or 6 credit hours for graduate students).
-Â Â Â Â Â Â You must pass 6 (six) credit hours in a regular semester (fall, spring) in order to compete in the next semester.
-Â Â Â Â Â Â You must pass 18 (eighteen) credit hours during the academic year (fall and spring semesters) in order to compete the next academic year.
-Â Â Â Â Â Â A first-year student-athlete must complete 24 (twenty-four) credit hours prior to the beginning of their third semester.Â
Percentage of Degree Requirement
-Â Â Â Â Â Â You must declare a degree program prior to the beginning of your fifth semester.
-Â Â Â Â Â Â You must complete 40% of you degree by the beginning of your fifth semester.
-Â Â Â Â Â Â You must complete 60% of your degree by the beginning of your seventh semester.
-Â Â Â Â Â Â You must complete 80% of your degree by the beginning of your ninth semester.
Grade Point Average Requirement
-Â Â Â Â Â Â You must have and maintain a 1.8 GPA prior to your third semester.
-Â Â Â Â Â Â You must have and maintain a 1.9 GPA prior to your fifth semester.
-      You must have and maintain a 2.0 GPA prior to your seventh semester.  Â
Financial Aid
-Â Â Â Â Â Â The Compliance Office must also work with Financial Aid with regard to all athletic scholarships, institutional aid, and outside aid to determine whether everything is in accordance with NCAA and University of Maine regulations.Â
