NUTRITIONAL SUPPLEMENTATION AND GUIDANCE
 
Latti Performance Center provides chocolate milk as a nutritional supplement to all student athletes upon the completion of a mandatory training time.  Chocolate milk has been shown to be an excellent post-training snack, as it provides a carbohydrate to protein ratio conducive to muscle growth.  This helps our student athletes capitalize on training sessions by immediately kick-starting the recovery process post-training.  Our chocolate milk is farmed locally, and provided by Garelick Farms in Bangor, ME.
 
While it is outside the scope of practice for our performance team to issue specific meal plans for athletes, we are the primary nutritional resource for all of our teams.  Understanding how the body processes energy, and recovers from a training session or practice is one of our major assets.  We regularly provide nutritional presentations to teams and new student athletes in an effort to educate them on what and when are the best foods to eat to enhance performance and recovery. 
 
Our staff offers individual nutritional counseling on both a mandatory and walk-in basis.  Student athletes who are identified as high priority will be required to fill out a 3-day food log, in which they will list anything that they consume for 3 selected days (usually an off day, a practice day, and a competition day).  Analyzing this consumption will allow our coaches to understand where dietary deficiencies exist, and how to instruct athletes to make productive changes in what they eat.  These changes can be tailored towards any need: losing weight, gaining weight, adding muscle mass, increasing nutrient intake and absorption, mitigating athletic anemia, and other dietary barriers. 
 
Some of our team’s performance testing include Body Fat Analysis.  The performance coach will administer this test using skinfold calipers.  They will then analyze the data, and instruct the athlete on the change that is expected based new dietary habits, and training loads.
