Black Bears top Huskies in Portland

Owen Fowler scored two goals, Mathis Rousseau had a 25-save shutout.

PORTLAND, Maine – The #20/RV University of Maine men's ice hockey team picked up a 4-0 win over RV Northeastern on Friday night at Cross Insurance Arena in Portland.
 
Owen Fowler put the Black Bears up 1-0 midway through the first period. Seven minutes into the second period, Fowler broke in all alone for a short-handed goal and the first of three Maine goals in the period. Brandon Holt and Josh Nadeau scored power-play goals 80 seconds apart to give the Black Bears a 4-0 lead after two periods.
 
Mathis Rousseau and the Black Bears closed out the game with a 12-save third period for the shutout victory.

  • Maine had the 46-25 lead in shots on goal.
