Brandon Holt and
Thomas Freel will captain the 2025-26 Maine men's ice hockey team while
Frank Djurasevic will serve as alternate captain.

Holt and Freel are both donning the 'C' for the for first time, with Freel also having served as an alternate captain during the 2024-25 season. This is the first year that Djurasevic and Holt will wear a letter on their jersey.Â

Freel, a forward, has played in all 111 games for the Black Bears over his first three seasons in Orono. The native of Aberdeen, Scotland is coming off a junior year in which he scored a career-high 11 goals, with eight of them coming on the advantage. Freel also had career-highs in blocked shots (24) and shots on goal (87). He enters his senior season with 55 points, 19 goals, 36 assists, 10 power-play goals and 64 blocked shots.

Holt is coming off of a 2024-25 season that saw him earn Hockey East Third Team All-Star honors and be named runner-up for Hockey East Best Defensive Defenseman. The Grand Forks, N.D. native recorded a career-high 20 points on four goals and a career-best 16 assists while also recording career-highs in blocked shots (46) and shots on goal (75) last season. Holt has skated in 91 career games and enters his senior season with 46 poits from 12 goals and 34 assists while blocking 105 shots.

Djurasevic, a junior defenseman, skated in all 38 games in his first season at Maine in 2024-25 while setting career-highs in points (28), goals (7) and assists (21) and tying for the team lead in blocked shots with a career-best 49. The native of New Rochelle, N.Y. recorded the first 25 point season by a Maine blue liner in 11 years. Djurasevic has skated in 73 collegiate games.
