ORONO, Maine – University of Maine men's ice hockey goaltender
Albin Boija has been named a Second Team All-American by the American Hockey Coaches Association, as announced on Friday night.
Boija, who was a Hockey East Second Team All-Star this season and 2025 Mike Richter Award Finalist, went 23-8-6 while posting a .928 save percentage and 1.82 goals against average. His goals against average ranks fifth overall in the country while his save percentage is tied for eighth-best and fourth among goaltenders with at least 30 games played. His four shutouts this season tie for fourth best in the country while his 23 wins rank fifth. Since the start of the 2002-03 season, Boija is only the second Hockey East goaltender and just the 17th nation-wide to post a goals against average below 1.85 in their first 37 games played in a season.

The Sundsvall, Sweden native's 1.82 goals against average ranks third all-time in program history for a single-season, trailing on Jimmy Howard's 1.19 and Frank Doyle's 1.81 in 2003-04.

This marks the 44th All-America selection in program history and the first since Jeremy Swayman in 2020. Boija is the fifth Black Bear goaltender to be named an All-American.
