- Kiia Lahtinen of the Maine women's ice hockey team was named the Hockey Commissioners Association National Rookie of the Month for February, the HCA announced Thursday afternoon.
Lahtinen was named Hockey East's Goalie of the Month within the conference as well.
In her five games played in February, Lahtinen posted two shutouts and allowed just three goals-against, making 120 saves on 123 shots faced. The first shutout came on Feb 7 over a ranked Northeastern University. The second shutout came on Feb 15 against Merrimack College. Lahtinen's save percentage for the month was .976 and goals-against average was 0.54.
Lahtinen started in 23 games in her rookie campaign, holding a .933 save percentage in conference play, which ranks in the top five for goaltenders in Hockey East.
