
Preview: Track and Field Prepares for America East Championships

Orono, ME - The University of Maine track and field programs will compete in the America East Indoor Track and Field Championships on Saturday Feb 22 and Sunday Feb 23. The events will take place at the Boston University Track & Tennis Center.
Athletes to Watch:
Andrew Card: Andrew put together a really strong season for the Black Bears, he set a new school records in the 300m with a time of 34.88 back on Jan 17 at the Black Bear Invite and 400m at 47.75 back at the Harvard Crimson Elite event on Feb 7.
Ned Farrington: Ned this season entered the top 5 record books in four separate events. The 1500m where he sits at #1, the Mile where he sits at #2, the 3000m where he sits at #3 and the 5000m where he sits at #5.
Charlie Collins: Charlie built off the back of a successful Cross Country season indoors as he captured a top 10 leaderboard spot in 4 different events. Collins is 2nd in the 1500m, 9th in the Mile, 6th in the 3000m, and 3rd in the 5000m.
Conor Morin: Conor set new PRs in both the High Jump and the Triple Jump this season. Morin set a new PR in the High Jump at the Black Bear Invite with a height of 1.94m back on Jan 17. Morin set his Triple Jump PR at the Scarlet and White Invite on Feb 8 with a distance of 14.55m.
Luke Marsanskis: Luke was named to the America East's Athletes to watch list where they said, The 2024 #AEXC Champion earned second in the 5K last year in a photo finish. This weekend he looks to bring home the gold as he heads into the meet with the league's best time.
Cheyenne Figueroa: Cheyenne put together a strong season for the Black Bears in the Weight Throw event. Figueroa set a season high distance at the Scarlet and White invite with a distance of 19.07m back on Feb 8.
Kelcie Horst: Kelcie had a very strong season for Maine this season. Horst set a new school record in the 300m back at the Black Bear Invite on Jan 17. Horst also set new PRs in the 60m, 200m and 400m throughout the season.
