Mabrey led the way in scoring with 14 points

Stony Brook, N.Y. – The University of Maine basketball team fell in a tight battle against Stony Brook on Saturday evening, 71-60.

Stony Brook jumped out to a sizable lead as they pushed it to as large as 13 points midway through the opening half before the Black Bears came roaring back to make it just a one-point deficit at halftime, 38-37. Maine ended the first half on a 25-12 run through the last 10 minutes of action.

Maine shot nearly 52% from the floor in the first half while holding the Seawolves to just 47% from the floor and 22% from three-point range.

The Seawolves were able to push their lead back out in the second half as the Black Bears failed to take a lead at any point during the contest, ultimately falling 71-60.

Ryan Mabrey led the way in scoring as he had 14 points to go along with three three-pointers and three rebounds.

Bashir N'Galang chipped in 11 points on 50% shooting while TJ Biel had nine points and seven rebounds.

Notes:

Ace Flagg led the Black Bears in rebounding with eight, the second-most of any player on the night.
Nine different Black Bears scored at least two points on the night, while five different scorers had at least eight points.
Biel recorded his second-straight game with two blocks.

The Black Bears (0-2) wrap up their three-game road trip on Monday, Nov. 10 as they take on Rutgers. Tip-off is scheduled for 6:30 PM.
