Justin Poirier named Hockey East Pro Ambitions Rookie of the Month

Poirier led all rookies nationally in scoring in October.

AMESBURY, Mass. – University of Maine men's freshman Justin Poirier has been named the Hockey East Pro Ambitions Rookie of the Week, as announced on Wednesday by the league.
 
Poirier helped Maine to a 4-2-1 record in the month of October. Poirier led all rookies nationally with 11 points in seven games. His seven goals tied for the Hockey East lead in the month while his 11 points ranked second.
 
The Valleyfield, Quebec native recorded a hat trick in his first collegiate game on Oct. 10 and added another multi-goal game and a three-point game with a two-goal, one-assist outing to close out the month on Oct. 31. Poirier recorded two power-play goals, 24 shots on goal and a plus-4 rating.
 
Poirier earned two Rookie of the Week honors from Hockey East in the month of October.
