Ricard earns fifth NFL Pro Bowl selection

Orono, Maine -- For the fifth time in his career, former Black Bear and All-CAA honoree Patrick Ricard has been selected to the AFC Pro Bowl Games roster, as announced by the National Football League on Thursday, Jan. 2.

Ricard, selected to the Pro Bowl roster as a fullback, becomes the only Black Bear to be named to the Pro Bowl on five occasions. Fellow former Black Bear Montell Owens earned two Pro Bowl selections during his NFL tenure.

This season, Ricard, has appeared in 16 games with six starts while registering two receptions for eight yards and a touchdown. Ricard has played a pivotal role in the run game where he has assisted in paving the way for Derrick Henry who has amassed 1,783 yards and 14 touchdowns. As a unit, the Ravens currently rank second in the NFL with 2,969 rush yards. Ricard, currently in his seventh season with the Baltimore Ravens, has appeared in 120 games with 61 starts during his career while accounting for 47 receptions for 301 yards and seven touchdowns.

While at UMaine, Ricard played 44 games and was a constant force on the defensive line. Nearly a quarter of Ricard's 208 total tackles were for a loss. He ended his career at Maine with 47.5 tackles-for-loss, 18.0 sacks, 11 pass deflections, three forced fumbles, one fumble recovery and a pair of blocked kicks.
