ORONO, Maine - The University of Maine women's ice hockey program announced its captains for the 2024-25 season.

Elise Morphy has been named the captain of the Black Bears while Alyssa Wruble, Dani Brunette, and Adriana van de Leest have been named alternate captains.

Graduate student Elise Morphy returns for her fifth season, wearing the 'C' for the second year in a row. Morphy played in all 35 games last season, leading the defenders in points with two goals and 12 assists. She earned Hockey East's Defender of the Week award twice last season and earned Defender of the Month honors in December. 

Senior forward Alyssa Wruble will wear an 'A' this season after playing in all 35 games last season, where she tallied five goals and five assists. Wruble has skated in 103 games for Maine scoring 23 goals and 18 assists for 41 points over the past three seasons.

Junior forward Dani Brunette is a fresh face for the Black Bears this year after transferring from Minnesota-Duluth. The Chisago, MN native played in all 35 games for UMD last season.

Senior defender Adriana van de Leest skated in 28 games last season scoring three goals and four assists. Two of her three goals came on the power play. The Kelowna, BC native is in her second season with the Black Bears after transferring from Bemidji State after her sophomore season. 

Maine will face the University of New Hampshire in an exhibition game on Sunday, September 22 to kick off the season. The Black Bears will then officially open the season against Quinnipiac University on Friday, September 27 and Saturday, September 28 at Alfond Arena. 

Tickets for contests at Alfond Arena are available for purchase online (GoBlackBears.com/Tickets, via phone (207-581-BEAR) or in person at the Alfond Arena Ticket Office during business hours (M-F, 8:30 a.m. - 4:00 p.m.). Sales are online only during non-business hours.
