Orono, Maine -- The University of Maine women's basketball team checked in third in the 2023-24 Women's Basketball Coaches Association Academic Top 25 Team Honor Rolls, as announced by the WBCA on Wednesday, July 24. The Black Bears finished third among NCAA Division I members with a 3.856 cumulative team grade point average.

The Top-25 ranking marks the seventh time in the past 10 seasons in which the Black Bears have earned a spot on the WBCA Academic Top 25 Team Honor Roll and the fourth consecutive year in which they've ranked in the top five. Maine led the nation in the 2020-21 WBCA Academic Top 25 with a 3.90 cumulative team grade point average.

The WBCA Academic Top 25 recognizes NCAA Division I, II and III, NAIA, and two-year college women's basketball teams across the nation that carry the highest combined GPAs inclusive of all student-athletes on their rosters for the entire season. The 2023-24 season is the 29th in which the WBCA has compiled the honor rolls.
