Smithfield, RI - The University of Maine men's basketball teams season came to an end on Saturday afternoon in the America East quarterfinals at #3 Bryant, 84-58.
Maine jumped out to an early 5-2 lead on the back of a Kellen Tynes three-pointer before the Bulldogs grabbed a 10-8 lead heading into the first media timeout of the afternoon.
Following a tie at 16-16, Bryant went on a 14-2 run to take a double-digit lead at 30-18 with 8:27 remaining in the second half.
Bryant was able to keep their double-digit lead into halftime as they held the advantage at 47-36.
Peter FIlipovity had a team-high nine points and three rebounds in the first half.
Kellen Tynes had seven points, two rebounds and two assists while Jaden Clayton had five points, two rebounds and two assists.
Maine started out the second half on a 7-0 run as they cut the deficit down to four points.
Bryant responded with an extended 13-3 run that had them up 60-46 at the second media timeout of the second half.
Maine was never able to recover from their second double-digit deficit of the contest as Bryant picked up the victory, 84-58.
Filipovity finished with 16 points, six rebounds and two assists.
Tynes finished with nine points, two rebounds and two assists.
Maine concluded the season with a 15-17 record.
