ORONO, Maine - Sam Morrison of the University of Maine women's ice hockey team was named Rookie of the Month, Hockey East announced Tuesday. 

Morrison led all league rookies and came up big when the Black Bears needed offense the most. She scored seven points in February's eight games, six of which in her final four games, including two game-winning goals to lift Maine into a home-ice position in the Hockey East quarterfinals. Morrison also set up the overtime game-winner against Providence. 

This accounts for Morrison's first Monthly accolade from Hockey East.
