Preview: #5 Black Bears host Stonehill to close fall semester

Maine and Stonehill will face off on Saturday and Sunday afternoon at Alfond Arena.

ORONO, Maine – The #5 University of Maine men's ice hockey team will close out the first semester with a pair of home games against the Stonehill Skyhawks on Saturday, Dec. 7 and Sunday, Dec. 8 at Alfond Arena.
 
Puck drop on Saturday is set for 2 p.m. while Sunday's tilt is slated for a 3 p.m. start. Both non-conference contests will stream on ESPN+, with an international stream available via Hockey East/Stretch Internet. The games can also be listened to via 92.9 FM or online at GoBlackBears.com/MIHRadio.
 
During the first intermission of Saturday's game, the Black Bears will be holding a Teddy Bear Toss. Following Sunday's contest, both the  men's and women's ice hockey teams are set to host the annual Skate with the Bears event. RSVP at this link.

WHAT'S ON TAP
• The University of Maine men's ice hockey team will wrap up the first semester with a pair of home games against Stonehill on Saturday, Dec. 7 and Sunday, Dec. 8 at Alfond Arena.
• This marks the first-ever meeting between Maine and Stonehill.
• The Black Bears are coming off of a two-win road weekend at RPI ... the Skyhawks defeated Army, 3-1, on Tuesday, Nov. 26 and will face Alaska Anchorage on Wednesday, Dec. 4.
 
A WIN ON SATURDAY WOULD. . .
• Move Maine to 11-2-2 overall and 6-0-0 in non-conference games.
• Bump Maine to 3-2-1 on the road.
• Move the Black Bears to 1-0-0 all-time against the Skyhawks.
• Give Maine 11 wins in the first 15 games of the season for the second consecutive season.
 
SERIES HISTORY vs STONEHILL
• This marks the first-ever meeting between Stonehill and Maine.
• Stonehill is in its third season of Division I play.
 
ABOUT STONEHILL
• The Skyhawks, who host Alaska Anchorage on Wednesday night, sit at 6-11-0 on the year.
• Stonehill is in its third season of Division I competition.
• Anthony Galante has a team-leading 16 points from nine goals and seven assists while Henri Schreifels has nine points on three goals and six assists.
• Connor Androlewicz – a four-year member of the University of Maine men's ice hockey team who graduated this past spring – has started 13 games between the pipes … he is 6-7-0 with a 3.12 goals against average, .902 save percentage and one shutout.
• David Berard is in his first season as head coach of the Skyhawks.
 
UP NEXT
• Maine will be back in action on Sunday, Dec. 29 when it hosts Bentley at the Cross Insurance Arena in Portland.
