BLOOMINGTON, Ind. --
Caroline Dotsey posted a team-high 17 points in Maine's 78-53 loss at Indiana on Sunday afternoon.
Dotsey, who finished the game 7-of-17 from the floor, finished in double-digits for the second consecutive game while adding a career-high seven rebounds in the loss.
Olivia Rockwood added nine points on three triples while
Sera Hodgson added eight points with a perfect 2-of-2 from three-point range.
Maine, which closed with a pair late in the second quarter and trailed 36-28 at the half, was outscored 25-13 in the third quarter as the Hoosiers finished the game 30-for-57 (52.6).
The Hoosiers jumped out to a 19-8 edge with 3:32 left in the first quarter and led 24-17 after one.
Indiana's lead would stand at seven, 28-21, early in the second quarter.
Maine responded with a 5-0 run from Dotsey starting with a reverse layup from the forward before her triple trimmed the deficit to just two, 28-26, with 4:10 left in the half.
The Black Bears were able to keep the distance to five down the stretch of the first half before a late triple from Indiana sent the game to the break with Maine trailing, 36-28.
A 14-3 third quarter run by Indiana gave the hosts a 22-point advantage.
The lead grew to 25 early in the fourth before Maine's brief 5-0 run, again coming from Dotsey, brought the deficit back to 20.
However, it would be as close as Maine would get as Indiana captured the victory by a final of 78-53.
Maine returns to action on Wednesday when it travels to take on Purdue at 7 p.m.
