BOSTON, Mass. --
Asta Blauenfeldt registered a career-high 24 points in Maine's 67-57 loss at Boston University on Thursday evening.
Blauenfeldt posted her best effort in her short Maine career, going 9-of-11 from the floor with four triples to go along with four steals and three rebounds.
Olivia Rockwood added three triples for nine points while
Sarah Talon also posted a nine point night.
Maine, which shot 8-of-17 in the first quarter, ended the game 22-of-61 (36.1) with eight triples.
The Black Bears came out on fire, jumping out to a 12 point lead in the first quarter.
A 12-0 first quarter run for the Black Bears began on triples from Rockwood and Blauenfeldt. A pair of buckets followed from Blauenfeldt and
Caroline Dotsey ran the lead to eight before
Paula Gallego's bucket in the paint gave Maine a double-digit advantage. Two Blauenfeldt free throws gave Maine it's largest lead of the game, 21-9.
The Terriers battled back, outscoring Maine 18-6 in the second quarter to carry a 29-27 lead into the half.
Boston University continued its sprint, putting together a 7-0 run early in the third quarter to extend its lead to 36-29.
The Terriers kept charging, running its lead out to 49-36 late in the third.
Maine regrouped and began clawing its way back into the game, beginning with a 5-0 spurt to close the third to close within eight.
The deficit grew back to 11 for the Black Bears with 8:43 left in the contest.
Another triple from Blauenfeldt started a 6-0 run for the Black Bears who found themselves trailing by five with 6:09 on the clock.
However, the five point deficit would be as close as Maine would get, falling to the Terriers by a final of 67-57.
Maine returns to action when it hosts Quinnipiac on Sunday, Nov. 24 at approximately 2 p.m. in the second game of a doubleheader with the Maine men's basketball team.
