BOSTON, MA - The University of Maine women's ice hockey team fell in a close game with the Northeastern Huskies Friday night at Matthews Arena.
Lily Fetch tallied Maine's lone goal in the 2-1 loss, with
Alyssa Wruble and
Jaidyn Britt picking up assists. The two teams were tied with a goal apiece after the first period before a scoreless second period followed. The second period came with eight penalties, yet the period remained scoreless. Just under three minutes into the final frame, Northeastern found the back of the net to take back the lead.
The Black Bears outshot the Huskies 31-30, with
Kiia Lahtinen making 24 saves for Maine.Â
Maine killed off all five of Northeastern's power play opportunities.Â
The two teams face off again on Saturday, Nov. 16, at 1:30 p.m. at Matthews Arena.Â
