KINGSTON, R.I. –
Sarah Talon's 19 points paced Maine to a 57-53 road win at Rhode Island on Wednesday evening.

In a game which featured 10 lead changes and nine ties, the Black Bears were able to outscore Rhode Island 14-7 in the fourth quarter to close out the victory.

Maine, which finished the game with just eight turnovers, went 24-of-54 (44.4) from the floor including a 6-of-12 showing over the final 10 minutes of play.

Talon guided the way with a season-high 19 points on 8-of-9 shooting to go along with three rebounds and a pair of steals.
Paula Gallego added 14 points and four rebounds while
Caroline Bornemann chipped in nine points, five rebounds, and five assists.

Neither team would lead by more than five over the first half of play as the Black Bears entered the break trailing by three, 29-26.

The teams traded the lead four more times in the third quarter.

Maine, which trailed by five with 5:02 left in the third quarter, put together a 7-2 run to regain the lead on a triple by
Sera Hodgson and a pair of driving buckets from Talon.

Rhode Island closed the quarter on a 6-2 run to carry a 46-43 advantage into the final quarter.

Gallego's three early in the fourth tied the game at 48-48 before the guard added a layup to give the Black Bears a two-point cushion with 6:55 on the clock.

Rhode Island battled back to once again take the lead before a 6-0 run by the Black Bears put the visitors on top for good.

Talon's bucket started the sprint for Maine before a jumper from Gallego and another driving layup from Talon gave the Black Bears their largest lead of the night, 56-51.

Maine cruise the rest of the way, securing the victory by a final of 57-53.

The Black Bears return home to host Harvard on Sunday at 12 p.m.
