Preview: Black Bears return home to host Merrimack

Maine will welcome Merrimack to Alfond Arena for two Hockey East games on Friday, Nov. 1 and Saturday, Nov. 2.

ORONO, Maine – The #7/6 University of Maine men's ice hockey team will welcome the Merrimack College Warriors to Alfond Arena for two Hockey East games on Friday, Nov. 1 and Saturday, Nov. 2.
 
Puck drop between the Black Bears and Warriors is set for 7:30 p.m. on both nights. Both tilts will stream on ESPN+, with an international stream available via Hockey East/Stretch Internet. The games can also be listened to via 92.9 FM or online at GoBlackBears.com/MIHRadio.

WHAT'S ON TAP

• Maine holds an overall record of 78-25-10 in the all-time series with Merrimack.
• Maine is 2-5-0 all-time against Merrimack under head coach Ben Barr ... Barr's first career win came against Merrimack in a 6-5 overtime tilt at Alfond Arena on Nov. 12, 2021 ... David Breazeale's scored the game-winning goal in the form of his first career goal.
• Lynden Breen is Maine's active leading scorer against Merrimack with 11 points on six goals and five assists while Breazeale has four (1-3-4) ... ten total Black Bears have at least one point against Merrimack.
 
ABOUT MERRIMACK
• The Warriors enter the weekend at 1-3-1 overall and 0-1-1 in Hockey East play … Merrimack played a single game against UMass Lowell this past weekend, falling 6-3 at home.
• Six different Warriors have two points … all seven of Merrimack's goals so far this season have come from different players.
• In between the pipes, Max Lundgren 1-1-0 with a 2.05 goals against average and .923 save percentage while Ryan Keyes is 0-1-1 with a .895 save percentage and 2.44 goals against average.
• Merrimack's lone win came in a 1-0 win at Minnesota State on Oct. 11.
• The Warriors were tabbed 10th in the Hockey East Preseason Coaches Poll.
 
ABOUT MAINE
• The Black Bears bring an overall record of 4-0-1 and a Hockey East mark of 1-0-1 into Friday night.
• Maine went 1-0-1 this past weekend at Northeastern … on Oct. 25, the Black Bears snapped a 16-game winless streak at Matthews Arena with a 4-1 win over the Huskies ... it was Maine's first in at Matthews since Feb. 25, 2012.
• At 4-0-1, Maine is off to its best start through five games since the 2006-07 season.
• Brandon Holt (2-5-7) and Harrison Scott (2-6-8) are both on five-game point streaks to open the year ... Scott's point steak is at career-long six games dating back to the final game of the 2023-24 season ... Holt's five games mark a career long.
• Scott leads Maine in scoring with eight points on two goals and six assists while Holt and Taylor Makar (4-3-7) sit one point behind.
• Albin Boija has started every game in goal, going 4-0-1 with a 1.75 goals against average and .948 save percentage.
