Women's Ice Hockey drops barnburner to #13 Boston College

ORONO, Maine - The University of Maine women's ice hockey team came down to the wire with #13 Boston College, Saturday at Alfond Arena before falling, 2-3.

The Black Bears allowed Boston College to have an early one-goal lead within the first seven minutes of the game when Sammy Taber netted a back-door goal. After an almost-scoreless second period, freshman forward Lily Fetch came flying through the slot to bang home a rebound from Mikayla Boarder's shot with just 0.4 seconds left in the period. Raegan Wurm also picked up an assist on Fetch's tying-goal.

Despite the Black Bears controlling most of the third period and outshooting the Eagles 41-33, Boston College snuck two goals past goaltender Julia Bachetti to take back the lead. Maine's Mikayla Boarder found the back of the netin the final minute on a 6-on-5 play, but Maine's effort came up short as the clock ran out of time. Ida Kuoppala and Jamie Grinder tallied assists on the final goal.

Julia Bachetti came up with 30 saves for the Black Bears.
