Orono, Maine - Alec Troxell won the 2023 Maine Black Bear Cross Country Invitational on Friday at Penobscot Valley Country Club. Troxell and the Black Bears tied for a second place team finish at the meet with 56 points.

Army took first place in the meet (26), followed by the Black Bears (56) and New Hampshire (56). Bryant rounded out the field in fourth (105).

Troxell paced the field, crossing the line first with a time of 24:20.9. Maine took two of the top three marks as Luke Marsanskis returned to action and placed third at 24:47.1.

Freshman Adam Bendetson placed 16th in his first career meet with a time of 25:47.0.

Maine returns to action when it travels to compete in the John McNichols Invitational, hosted by Indiana State, on Sept. 14.
