Orono, Maine -- The University of Maine men's ice hockey team has announced its schedule for the 2023-24 season. The Black Bears, who open the regular season when they host RPI on Oct. 12 and Oct. 13, will play 16 games at Alfond Arena, make a return to the Cross Insurance Arena in Portland for one game in December, and face a challenging slate of non-conference opponents.

Maine begins its journey when it welcomes RPI to Alfond Arena on Homecoming Weekend in Orono with games scheduled on Thursday, Oct. 12 and Friday, Oct 13 against the Engineers. The Black Bears begin a four-game road swing when they hit the road to take on the defending NCAA National Champion Quinnipiac Bobcats on Oct. 27 and Oct. 28. Maine remains on the road when it opens Hockey East play at Merrimack on Nov. 3 and Nov. 4.

Maine returns home to host Boston College on Nov. 10 and Nov. 11 before a trip to meet the defending Hockey East championships, Boston University, on Nov. 17 and 18.

The Black Bears return home to host rival New Hampshire in the Border Battle, presented by Buffalo Wild Wings, on Dec. 1 before taking on UConn at Alfond Arena on Dec. 3.

Six-straight non-conference games follow, beginning with a road trip to Union on Dec. 6.

Maine returns to the Cross Insurance Arena for the first time since 2020 when it hosts Bentley in Portland, Maine on Dec. 9.

The Black Bears are set to take part in the Ledyard Bank Classic, hosted by Dartmouth College, on Dec. 29 and Dec. 30.

Maine closes non-conference action on Dec. 5 and 6 when it hosts Colgate at Alfond Arena.

Hockey East action returns on Jan. 12 and 13 with a trip to UConn before the Black Bears close out the month by hosting UMass Lowell on Jan. 19 and Jan. 20.

Single games at Northeastern (Feb. 2) and UMass (Feb. 3) begin the February swing before a two-game set at home against Providence on Feb. 9 and Feb. 10.

The Border Battle continues on Feb. 16 and 16 with a trip to New Hampshire prior to a home series with Northeastern on Feb. 23 and Feb. 24.

Maine's final regular season road series takes place on March 1 and March 2 with a trip to Vermont before the regular season comes to a close when Maine plays host to UMass on March 8 and March 9.
