Albany, NY - The University of Maine men's track and field team broke a 35 year old school record in the America East Outdoor Championships. The Black Bears placed fourth overall with 99 points.
Ralph Cruz, Ben Cotton, Cole Martin, and Josh Sewell made up the 400m relay team that brought home bronze with a time of 41.56, setting a new University of Maine record.
Jonathan Prell led the way for Maine placing second in the shot put (16.11m).
In the 1500m run Evan Thorton-Sherman placed third with a time of 3:53.47. Alec Troxell also brought home another third place finish in the 5000m coming in at a time of 14:47.53.
Marek Veal had a strong day coming in fourth in the shot put (15.17m) and fifth in the discus (47.89m).
Maine had four more fourth place finishes from Tanner Burton, Cole Martin, Evan Thornton-Sherman, and Nathan Holst-Grubbe in their respective events. Burton in the 110 hurdles (14.83), Martin in the 100m (14.83), Thornton-Sherman in the 5000m (14:52.41), and Holst-Grubbe in the discus.
