Lowell, MA – The University of Maine men's basketball team had their season come to an end in the Quarterfinals of the America East Tournament on Saturday afternoon at UMass Lowell, 85-54.

The River Hawks got on the board first on the afternoon Ayinde Hikim made a layup.

Maine got on the board at 16:37 and took their first lead of the afternoon as
Jaden Clayton knocked down a three-pointer with the shot clock expiring.

Both sides traded the lead back and forth until 13:52 when the River Hawks grabbed the lead at 10-8.

The River Hawks took their slim lead and slowly grew it up over the course of the first half until it reached its highest point of the first half at 22 points with 3:52 remaining.

Maine was able to cut into some of the deficit before halftime as they made it an 18-point game at 44-26.

Gedi Juozapaitis led all scorers in scoring in the first half as he had 11 points.

Kellen Tynes broke the UMaine program record for most steals in a single season as he picked up a steal at 8:07.

Brayden O'Connor also had 11 points in the first half for his squad.

The River Hawks pushed out to a 28-point lead in the second half at 58-30 with 15:27 remaining.

The Black Bears worked the score down to a 21-point deficit, capped off by a
Peter Filipovity layup.

The River Hawks answered with a 10-2 run of their own, moving the score back out to a 28-point lead at 72-44 heading into the third media timeout.

The Black Bears continued to battle but couldn't get any closer on the scoreboard as their season came to an end at the hands of the River Hawks on Saturday afternoon, 85-54.

Gedi Juozapaitis led the Black Bears in scoring on the afternoon with 16 points on seven of 11 shooting.

Kellen Tynes finished with 11 points, four rebounds, four assists and three steals. He concludes his season with 98 steals, four shy of the conference all-time record.
