Orono, ME - Haley Ryan of the University of Maine women's ice hockey team earned Hockey East's Rookie of the Week award, Hockey East announced Monday.

Ryan notched three goals in Saturday's 6-3 victory over Darmtouth College, one being a short-handed goal. Ryan's natural hat trick came in a span of just nine minutes and 23 seconds during the second period. Her three goals opened the scoring for Maine as the team put up three more in the 6-3 win. 

Of the 10 first-years on the team this season, Ryan leads the rookie crew with six goals and two assists for eight points. 

The Conception Bay South, NL native has skated in all 17 games for the Black Bears this season, consistently centering Maine's third line. 

Saturday's win lifts Maine to a 5-game win streak.
