Notes on the Black Bears

  • The Maine Black Bears come off last weekend splitting with #14 Boston College. The Black Bears stole game one by a score of 4-3 and dropped game two by a score of 2-4. 
  • Ann-Frederique Guay, the most recent Hockey East Player of the Week, scored a hat trick in Friday's victory and tallied an assist in Saturday's game.
  • Seven other Black Bears notched at least one point on the weekend: Ava Stevenson (1g, 1a), Ida Kuoppala (1g,1a), Lily Fetch (1g), Mira Seregély (1a), Alyssa Wruble (1a), Rahel Enzler (2a), Ashley Kokavec (1a)
  • Goaltenders Julia Bachetti and Jorden Mattison each saw a game over the weekend. Mattison picked up Friday's win making 25 saves on 28 shots.  Bachetti made 30 saves on 33 shots in Saturday's loss.

Previous Matchup Facts: 

  • The Maine Black Bears and UConn Huskies faced off three times last season with the Huskies winning two of the three games.

  • Graduate forward Coryn Tormala leads the Huskies with seven points (2g, 5a). 
  • Senior forward Jada Habisch leads the Huskies in goals with four this season. 
  • Goaltenders Tia Chan and Megan Warrener have been splitting time between the pipes. Chan has started in six games and holds a .946 Sv%, while Warrener has started three games holding a 985 Sv%. The duo split the Hockey East Goaltender of the Week award this week. 
  • Aside from the recent sweep of Northeastern, UConn has tied and beat Penn State, split with UNH, got swept by Boston College and beat Providence in the lone game.
