Orono, Maine – The University of Maine women's ice hockey team will wear a unique, alternate third jersey for its game against Dartmouth on Dec. 9 at the Cross Insurance Arena in Portland, Maine. The jerseys were made possible by a generous donation from KeyBank.
"We are so grateful for KeyBank and their support," Maine women's ice hockey head coach
Molly Engstrom says. "It was evident from the get-go that KeyBank want to support women's hockey. This partnership means a lot to us, and we are looking forward to continuing to build the relationship. We can't wait to see the crew in Portland in the new very Maine designed sweaters."
The jersey features a buffalo plaid design, with Maine's iconic columbia blue prominently featured. The 'Maine Bear Head logo' is displayed on the front in the center of the jersey with columbia blue and navy blue piping on the arms and waist.
In addition to the support for the jerseys, KeyBank is donating 80 tickets for the Maine and Dartmouth game to the Make A Wish Maine, Boys and Girls Club of Southern Maine, Big Brothers-Big Sisters of Southern Maine, Woodfords Services, Girl Scouts of Maine and Olympia Snowe Women's Leadership Mentor-Mentee program.
"As a community-focused bank, KeyBank strives to make a difference in the communities where we do business and we are proud of the many ways we engage with community partners," said KeyBank Maine Market President Tony DiSotto. "Our support to UMaine Athletics is a good example of this. We appreciate the opportunity to sponsor a program that is beloved in our region and well respected for their achievements on the ice and off."
