ORONO, Maine – The University of Maine women's soccer team fell to Harvard, 3-0, in the first round of the 2023 NCAA Tournament on Saturday night at Jordan Field. The Black Bears were making the first NCAA Tournament appearance in program history.
Maine ends its season at 11-2-6 overall, marking the most wins for the Black Bears since the going 14-4-2 in 2006.Â
Harvard took a 1-0 lead eight minutes into the contest before the Black Bears countered with a few looks, including a dangerous corner that trickled past the far post. The hosts were able to add two more goals before the break for a 3-0 lead at halftime.

Maine kept the Crimson scoreless in the second half but despite a strong look from
Lara Kirkby and five second-half saves from
Kira Kutzinski, the Black Bears couldn't mount the comeback.
