Ida Kuoppala of the University of Maine women's ice hockey team was named the Hockey East Player of the Month, Hockey East announced Monday.
Kuoppala leads all Hockey East players in goals scored (9) and in total points (14). She has posted five multi-point games to start the year, including a three-goal, four-point outing on Oct. 7 against Stonehill College. In eight games played, Kuoppala tallied 1.50 points per game and has scored one game-winning goal, one power-play goal and one short-handed goal . She also has not taken a single penalty this season. She is +13 on the season, as she leads the Black Bears in +/- .
The Pedersore, Finland native has skated in 129 games for Maine earning 55 goals and 44 assists for 99 points thus far.
The Black Bears travel to Boston College this weekend for a pair of Hockey East games.
