Orono, ME - The Hockey East Association announced on Monday that University of Maine's
Ida Kuoppala and
Ashley Kokavec both earned weekly awards for their outstanding performances in the non-conference series against Stonehill College.
Kuoppala, a fifth year from Pedersore, Finland, exploded with four goals and three assists over the weekend, earning Hockey East's Player of the Week award. Kuoppala registered her first career hattrick in Saturday's 7-1 win, as well as her first weekly award since her freshman year. She currently leads the Black Bears in points with seven total (4G, 3A) and is tied with
Ann-Frederique Guay in goals scored.
Kokavec, a first-year from Parkland, Florida, tallied two goals and two assists for four points on the weekend. She is currently second in points for the Black Bears, behind Kuoppala, with five total (2G, 3A) after just her fourth career game. Kokavec has quickly found a spot in the top six defenseman for Maine, as well as quite a few minutes on special teams.

Ann-Frederique Guay also scored four goals over the weekend. Guay joined the Black Bears after four years at Norwich University. It is safe to say she has adjusted to the Divison I level quite well so far.
Senior goaltender
Jorden Mattison registered her fifth career shutout in Friday's 7-0 win over Stonehill, making all 23 saves that came her way. Mattison's save percentage sits at .923% as she kicks off her senior year for the Black Bears.
