Orono, Maine - The America East Conference announced on Wednesday, Sept. 7th that UMaine Cross Country runner Evan Thornton-Sherman was named the America East Performer of the Week for his performance during Maine's home opener meet against Army.

Thornton-Sherman, a freshman coming from St. Johnsbury High School placed first overall in the 8K race with a time of 24:38.8. This is Thornton-Sherman's first weekly award of his collegiate career. 

Thornton-Sherman and the rest of the Black Bears will be competing Saturday, Sept. 10 at the Maribel Sanchez Souther Invitational. That meet is hosted by Dartmouth and will take place in Hanover N.H.
