Football Drops 38-17 Decision at Boston College

Montigo Moss and Shawn Bowman each recorded touchdown receptions for the Black Bears as quarterback Joe Fagnano finished the contest 21-of-43 for a season-high 289 yards with two touchdowns. Zavier Scott posted a career day with career highs in both receptions (8) and receiving yards (135). Maine racked up 378 total yards of offense.
Maine's defense racked up three sacks as Kahzir Brown tallied a career-high 11 stops to lead the Black Hole. Adrian Otero chipped in 10 stops, including the 200th of his career, while Brian Lee Jr. added eight tackles. Justin Sambu registered a sack for the third straight game.
The Black Bears struck first, taking a 3-0 lead on the Eagles midway through the first quarter. Following a third down sack from Justin Sambu, Maine's second of the first quarter, and a 17-yard punt by the Eagles, Maine would take over at the Boston College 38. Fagnano and the offense would advance to the Boston College 27 where Cole Baker would knock through a 45-yard field goal.
Boston College answered with a 51-yard touchdown pass from Phil Jurkovec to Zay Flowers.
Maine would waste no time responding as Trevin Ewing took the ensuing kickoff back 73-yard to set up Maine at the Boston College 22. Two plays later, Fagnano hit Bowman down the sideline for a 17-yard touchdown to give Maine a 10-7 lead with 3:33 left in the opening quarter.
The Eagles would reel off 24 unanswered points in the second quarter.
Jurkovec's two yard lob to George Takacs in the corner of the endzone regained the lead for the Eagles, 14-10, late in the first quarter.
The Eagles extended their lead to 21-10 on a nine yard rushing score by Jaden Williams with 2:56 gone in the second quarter.
Boston College's Patrick Garwo would stretch the lead to 28-10 on a 1-yard touchdown with 1:08 left in the first half.
A 46-yard field goal from Connor Lytton lifted Boston College's lead to 31-10 early in the second half.
Maine snapped the Eagle's scoring streak with a touchdown at the 7:44 mark of the third quarter. Fagnano hit Zavier Scott for a 49-yard gain before a 17-yard hit to Bowman set Maine up at the Eagles' 12. Three plays later, Fagnano hit Moss for a four yard score, the duo's second touchdown hook-up in as many weeks.
The Eagles would tack on a touchdown late on Garwo's second score of the day, this one a 30-yard rushing touchdown, to complete the victory by a final of 38-17.
