ORONO, ME – University of Maine head men's basketball head coach
Chris Markwood has announced the hiring of assistant coach Jordon Bronner.
Â
"We are excited to have Jordon joining our program," Markwood states. "Jordon is a bright, young coach, who knows the America East inside and out. He was a captain and a very good player in this league at UNH. He has evolved as a coach over the years at his alma mater under the tutelage of Coach Herrion, who has the most wins for a America East coach in the conference's history, and someone I have a ton of respect for. Jordon will be a great resource for our staff and our players as we work to build a consistent winner in this league."
Â
Bronner joins the Black Bears after having served as the assistant coach/recruiter for the University of New Hampshire from 2018-22. Along with recruiting, Bronner assisted in scouting of opposing teams, extensive film work within his own team, working with academic support to help monitor the student athletes and served as a coordinator for the Elite and Day Camps at New Hampshire.
Â
"I'm excited for the new opportunity under coach Markwood," Bronner states. " My two best friends from high school played under coach Markwood at UVM and a high school coach of mine has a good relationship with Markwood so it all made sense to me when deciding to come to UMaine. This is a fresh start for all of us, so our job is to build this program up and give everyone in the community and athletic department something to rally behind and support."
Â
Prior to being named as the assistant coach at New Hampshire, Bronner spent the 2017-18 season as the director of operations for the Wildcats, where he ran the day-to-day operations of the program. He assisted in practice/game preparation and planning, organizing of recruit reports and coordinated film exchange with opposing programs.
Â
Bronner served as the graduate student manager during the 2016-17 season, where he worked closely with the coaching staff at New Hampshire in all aspects of recruiting, player development and individual workouts.
Â
Bronner enjoyed a successful collegiate basketball career as a member of the New Hampshire Wildcats from 2011-14. He was named to the America East All-Rookie team in 2011, the America East Honor Roll in 2013-14 and served as the team captain in his senior season of 2013-14 before graduating in May of 2014 with his bachelors in communications.
