Future Black Bears Bring Championship Pedigree to Men's Ice Hockey Program

ORONO, Maine - Three incoming freshmen and five future Black Bears for the University of Maine men's ice hockey program won or played in a championship during the 2021-22 season with their junior team. Luke Antonacci, Grayson Arnott, and Thomas Freel will bring their championship pedigree to the University this fall.
 
Josh Nadeau, Ryan Hopkins, Reid Pabich, Thomas Pichette, and Brandon Chabrier have all signed National Letters of Intent to attend the University of Maine when they complete their time with their junior teams.
 
Luke Antonacci and the Sioux City Musketeers of the United States Hockey League won the 2021-22 Clark Cup in a gentleman's sweep (4-1) over the Madison Capitols. Antonacci recorded five goals and 18 assists on the season. Reid Pabich and Brandon Chabrier both played for the Capitols and helped guide their squad to the Clark Cup.
 
Grayson Arnott, Ryan Hopkins, Thomas Pichette, and Josh Nadeau led the Penticton Vees of the British Columbia Hockey League to a four-game sweep in the 2021-22 Fred Page Cup championship series. Arnott tallied six goals and 31 assists on the season, Nadeau finished the championship season with 40 goals and 32 assists, while Hopkins found the back of the net seven times and assisted on 24 other goals.
 
Thomas Freel and the Ottawa Jr. Senators of the Central Canadian Hockey League swept the Hawkesbury Hawks in four games to win the 2021-22 Bogart Cup. Freel scored 35 goals and dished out 26 assists in his final season of junior hockey.
