Black Bears register 10 victories in outdoor season opener at UNH

Durham, N.H. -- The University of Maine men's track & field team captured 10 victories in its outdoor season opener at New Hampshire on Saturday afternoon.

Maine, which captured 10 victories on Saturday, was led by Alec Troxell's win in the 3000m. His time of 8:47.56 in the event moved him into fourth on Maine's all-time top-10 list in the event. James Olivier added a distance win, taking the top honors in the 1500m at 4:04.80. Tristram Coffin was the runner-up in the 3000m event at 8:58.29 while Lucas Bergeron came home fifth in the 3000m at 9:02.33.

Eamon Sweeney won the 400m with a time of 51.32 and was followed by Owen Mild in the event who was the runner-up at 52.07. Ben Cotton, who won the long jump at 6.92m, placed fourth in the 400m at 52.44.

Conner Michaud took the gold in the 400m hurdle at 58.13, following by the runner-up in the event, Michael O'Clair, with a time of 58.48.

William Green won the pole vault, clearing 4.25m. Kamundala Crispin took top honors in the triple jump at 12.73m while posting a fourth place mark in the long jump at 6.25m. Ryan Gendron was the runner-up in the high jump after clearing 1.90m.

Sebastian Osborne took the top showing in the shot put with a winning throw of 15.36m while Jonathan Prell placed third in the event at 14.27m.

Lewis Roebuck won the hammer throw with a mark of 51.87m.

Nathan Holst-Grubbe finished second in the discuss with a throw of 46.96m and came home second in the hammer at 51.79m. Cameron Hughes came home third in the discuss with a mark of 43.55m while Isaiah Allen placed third in the javelin with a throw of 53.77m.

Kyle Jacques finished third in the 200m with a time of 22.80 and placed fourth in the 100m at 10.99.

The team of Conner Michaud, Owen Mild, Sweeney, and Olivier won the 4x400m relay with a time of 3:37.29. Zachary Beaton, Cotton, Jacques, and Dominick Lizzotte took the bronze medal in the 4x100m with a final time of 46.59.
