ORONO, ME - The University of Maine baseball team is set to begin the 2022 season with a road trip to Louisiana as they take on the #10 LSU Tigers from Friday, Feb.18 - Sunday, Feb. 20.

The Black Bears will be facing off against the #10 LSU Tigers for just the 8th, 9th and 10th time this weekend, and it's first matchup since 1995, where the Tigers won 6-1. Maine is 1-6-0 all-time against LSU.
The Black Bears will be leaning on some familiar names heading into the 2022 season, with the long-standing presence of
Joe Bramanti,
Ryan Turenne and
Matthew Pushard being among the upper-classmen who are looking to build off of solid 2021 campaigns.
Jake Rainess,
Jake Marquez and
Quinn McDaniel are among the incredible talent of the class of 2024 who will be looking to build off of their first collegiate seasons.
Among the familiar names, there are some new faces, including 11 freshman and 5 transfers, who will be looking to make their marks on the University of Maine program.
Brett Erwin and
Jordan Schulefand are two names who will be entrusted with big roles in their first seasons as Maine Black Bears. Erwin has been named the Black Bears opening day starter at LSU on Friday, with Schulefand is slated to serve as the DH in games one and two, while taking the mound for game three.
Maine will be looking to build off of a 2021 season in which they finished 22-22 overall, 16-17 in America East games.
